Why This Matters

About Raise 4 A Child

Raise 4 A Child (R4C) is dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing essential resources and educational opportunities. Their mission is to ensure every child has the chance to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Through community support and strategic initiatives, R4C aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in need.

How the Partnership Began

The connection between Otto1890 Weekend Warrior and R4C was forged in the saddle. Recently, R4C sent a team of six riders to tackle the grueling Cape Epic. What started as an idea among colleagues quickly snowballed, gathering serious momentum. During the event, the riders and their support crew managed to raise over R250,000 for R4C.

Shaun Glover, Race Director of the Otto1890 Weekend Warrior, rode as part of that six-man team.

“It really is a relentless race; the days just come at you, and there aren’t any easy ones,” says Glover. ” Apart from the sheer scale of the race, what was wild to see was the support we drummed up. Raising over R250,000 for R4C got us thinking about what more we could do.

That’s how the connection with Otto1890 Weekend Warrior came to life. Allowing all our riders to donate in multiple ways (portion of entry fees, book drop-offs, clothing, cash contributions) and help unlock even more human potential across South Africa.
